The ages of Ravi and Rohit are in the ratio 5:7 . Eight years ago , their ages were in the ratio 7:13 . Find their present ages .

Let the present age of Ravi and Rohit be

5x and 7x respectively.

ATQ

5x-8/7x-8 = 7/13

by cross multiply we get

13(5x-8) = 7(7x-8)

65x -104 = 49x -56

65x-49x = -56+104

16x = 48

X = 48/16

X = 3

Now

Present age of Ravi = 5x = 5×3 = 15year

and present age of Rohit = 7x = 7×3 = 21year
