the ages of Sahil and Nikhil are in the ratio 4 :3 .5 years hence, the ratio of their ages will be 5 :4 find their present ages .please explain guys

Let the present ages of Sahil and Nikhil be 4x and 3x.

After 5 years, their ages will be,

Sahil's age = (4x + 5) years

Nikhil's age = (3x + 5) years

But, it is given that after 5 yrs, the ratio of their ages will be 5 : 4.

Let After 5 yrs, their ages will be 5x and 4x.

Then,

4x + 5 = 5x

And

3x + 5 = 4x

On solving both the equations, we get the same result, i.e.

x = 5

Using this value, we get

Sahil's present age = 4x = 4 × 5 = 20 years

Nikhil's present age = 3x = 3 × 5 = 15 years.
