Eight years later ..hence

frac{7x + 8}{2x + 8} = frac{5}{2}

by cross multiplication

2(7x + 8) = 5(2x + 8)

14x + 16 = 10x + 40

14x - 10x = 40 - 16

4x = 24

x ={24}{4} = 6

So there present ages are as follows...

asha = 7x = 7 \times 6 = 42 years
