Man = 5x

Express their age in 10 years time in term of x:

Somal = 7x + 10

Man = 5x + 10

Solve x:

Their ratio will be 9 : 7

(7x + 10) / (5x + 10) = 9/7

7(7x + 10) = 9(5x + 10)

49x + 70 = 45x + 90

49x - 45x = 90 - 70

4x = 20

x = 5

Find their present age:

Somal = 7x = 7(5) = 35 years old

Man = 5x = 5(5) = 25 years old

Answer: Somal is 35 years old and the Man is 25 years old.
