Materials required:

A metal rod, few nails, plastic handle, candle and matches.

Procedure:

. Light the candle, melt the wax an d attach the nails to the iron rod.

. Make sure the nails are attached firmly.

. Now, place one end of the metal and heat it, hold the plastic handle carefully.

. Heat the rod and wait for sometime, you can see the nails fall off one by one starting from near the edge being heated and then followed by the ones near the handle.

. This proves the thermal conductivity of metals. Precautions:

. Make sure to handle the candle flame carefully. . Handle the nails with care.
