✨✨Hêya !! ✨✨

Cannizzaro reaction is shown by those aldehydes in which α-hydrogen is absent .

ex. methanal , HCHO , the α-hydrogen is missing , so it will show

hope helps !! ❤️❤️

asra45: does ch3cho show cannizzaro reaction
tinaghosh: no it does not show because there are three alpha hydrogen
asra45: c6h5cho?
asra45: ch3-ch2-cho?
asra45: ccl3-cho?
tinaghosh: C6H5cho and ccl3cho will not show ch3ch2cho will show
tinaghosh: so sorry i said just the reverse.... c6h5cho and ccl3cho will show and ch3ch2cho will not show
asra45: if both ccl3-cho and c6h5cho are given whats is correct

aldehydes which do not have an alpha hydrogen show cannizzaro reaction
example: HCHO, PhCHO

asra45: how do i know it is alpha hydrogen or not
tinaghosh: suppose there is a functional group, say for example COOH or Cho or a multiple bond then u have to look for a carbon atom just beside the functional group or double bond.... that carbon is called alpha carbon and the hydrogen atoms attached to that carbon are called alpha hydrogen
tinaghosh: in CH3COOH there is a carbon atom beside COOH group and 3 H atoms are attached to it. then there are 3 alpha Hydrogen
tinaghosh: if u find it helpful plz mark it as brainliest
