let the altitude and the base of the triangle be x+5 and x

Using pythagores theorem

(x+5)^2+(x)^2 = (25)^2

x^2++5^2+x^2 = 625

x^2+25+x^2 = 625

2x^2 = 625-25

2x^2 = 600

4x^2 = 600

4x = root under 600

4x = 30

x = 30/4

x = 7.5

hence the altitude and the base of the triangle is 12.5cm and 7.5cm
