Answer:

base = 10.44 cm

altitude = 3.44 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

given, hypotenuse is 13 cm

let base be x

So, altitude = x - 7

Now by pythagoras theoram

(H)^2 = (B)^2 + (A)^2                (A altitude, b is base and h is hypotunuse)

(13)^2 = (x)^2 + (x - 7)^2

169 = x^2 + x^2 - 49

169 + 49 = 2x^2

2x^2 = 218

x^2 = 218/2

x^2 =  109

x = √109

x = 10.44

∴ base = x = 10.44

  altitude = x - 7 = 10.44 - 7 = 3.44
