Two Factors That Affect How Much Gravity Is on an Object. Gravity is the force that gives weight to objects andcauses them to fall to the ground when dropped. Two major factors, mass and distance, affect the strength of gravitational force on an object.

hope this helps you....

Gravitational Force depends on the following factors:

  • The force experienced by an object of mass m on the surface of any planet is W = m × g , where 'g' is the gravitational acceleration on that planet.

Now, the gravitational acceleration also can be expressed as :

 \boxed{g =  \dfrac{GM}{ {r}^{2} } }

  • 'G' is the Gravitational Constant, 'M' is mass of planet and 'r' is radius of planet.

So, gravitational force on that object is written as:

 \boxed{W = mg =  \dfrac{GMm}{ {r}^{2} } }

Hence, the factors on which W is dependent are:

  • Mass of planet
  • Radius of planet
  • Mass of object
