When 0.5 mole of HCl is reacted with 0.3 moles of NaOH then the limiting reagent is NaOH.
Reaction:-
HCl+NaOH =NaCl + H2O
Moles of HCl and NaOH decomposed should be equal to moles of H2O. And it’s obvious that NaOH is the limiting reagent. Therefore moles of H2O formed is 0.3.
It’s an experimental fact that when 1 mole of H2O is formed 57.1 KJ of heat is evolved. Therefore when 0.3 moles of H2O is formed 57.1*0.3 KJ heat is evolved.
Heat evolved = 17.14KJ
last option is correct
