In order to increase the temperature of 1kg of water we will simply put it in the formula heat added = specific heat * mass * change in temperature.


We already know the specific heat which is 1 calorie /gram degree Celsius = 4.186 joule /gram degree Celsius.


By using the simple maths conversion we come to the answer which is 4.184 kJ
