Let the principal be x

Case 1 :

Principal =x

rate of interest = r

Amount = 2800

SI = Amount - Principal = 2800-x

Time = 2 years

SI = \frac{P \times T \times r}{100}\\2800-x=\frac{x \times 2 \times r}{100}

\frac{100(2800-x)}{2x}=r ---1

Case 2 :

Principal =x

rate of interest = r

Amount = 3250

SI = Amount - Principal = 3250-x

Time = 5 years

SI = \frac{P \times T \times r}{100}\\3250-x=\frac{x \times 5\times r}{100}

\frac{100(3250-x)}{5x}=r  ---2

Equate 1 and 2

\frac{100(2800-x)}{2x}=\frac{100(3250-x)}{5x}\\\frac{2800-x}{2}=\frac{3250-x}{5}
