We have to find the amount of CaO produced by decomposition 1/4 th mole of CaCO3.

solution : decomposition reaction of CaCO3 is ..

CaCO3 = CaO + CO2

here you see, 1 mole of CaCO3 forms one mole of CaO.

so, 1/4 th mole of CaCO3 will form 1/4 mole of CaO.

∴ mass of CaO = no of moles of CaO × molar mass of CaO

= 1/4 × 56

= 14 g

Therefore the mass of CaO is 14g produced by decomposition of one fourth mole of CaCO3.
