The percentage of polarized light passing through analyzer is 50%

Explanation:

Given:

The angle between pass axis of polarizer and analyzer is 45°

To find out:

The percentage of light passing through the analyzer

Solution:

We know that

Intensity o light passing through analyzer is given by

I=I_0\cos^2\phi

Where \phi is the angle between the pass axis of polarizer and analyzer

Here given that \phi=45^\circ

Therefore,

I=I_0\cos^2 45^\circ

\implies I=I_0\times(\frac{1}{\sqrt{2}})^2

\implies I=\frac{I_0}{2}

passing percentage =\frac{1}{2}\times 100\%=50\%

Hope this answer is helpful.
