To find,

The angle of incidence.

Solution,

We can simply solve this numerical problem by using the following mathematical process.

Now, the normal to the surface divides the angle between the incident ray and reflected ray. Those two angles are known as incidence angle and reflection angle. Now, the value of incidence angle and reflection angle is equal.

Angle of incidence = (Angle between incident ray and reflected ray) /2 = 166/2 = 83°

Hence, the value of incidence angle is 83°.

Laws of reflection :

  1. The incident ray, reflected ray and the normal to the surface lies on the same plane.
  2. The values of incidence angle and reflection angle are equal to each other.
