When an incident ray of light enters a prism it gets refracted towards the normal. This refracted ray then strikes the other face of the prism and further deviates away from the normal and leaves the glass prism to enter the air i.e. from one medium to the other. This ray that leaves the prism is called emergent ray. The angle formed between the incident ray and emergent ray is called angle of deviation
