If the refractive index of a medium is more , that means speed of light in that medium will be less , as we know

Refractive index of a medium = Speed of light in vaccum or air ÷ Speed of light in that medium.

Basically what a bigger refractive index means is that light is more slower in that medium.

If ligh is slower then it is gonna deviate more .

But if you are talking about deviation in a prism then it is a totally different story .

If we plot a angle of deviation vs angle of incidence graph , then it will be a curve .

It is found that the angle of deviation becomes minimum when the angle of incidence is equal to the angle of emergence. That is when i=e.

In position of minimum deviation the equation stands as

Angle of deviation(min) = 2i -A

Where A is the angle of prism and i is either angle of incidence or emergence.
