The angle of elevation of a ladder leaning against a wall is 60° and the foot of the ladder is 4.6 away from the wall. The length of the ladder is:

Let , AB is the wall

BC is the ladder

AC is the distance between the foot of the ladder and building, which is = 4.6 m


Angle ACB = 60°


Now , from Right triangle ABC

Cos 60° = AC / BC

1/2 = 4.6 / l

l = 4.6 × 2

l = 9.2


Therefore, length of the ladder = 9.2 m
