The angle of elevation of the top of a tower as observed from the foot of a
temple has measure 60. The angle of elevation of the top of the temple as
observed from the foot of the tower has measure 30.
If the temple is 50 m high, find the height of the tower.​

SOLUTION :

Let CD is the height of the temple

let the height of the tower be x

then

in triangle CDB

\tan 30^\circ = \frac{50}{DB}\\\\\frac{1}{\sqrt{3}}=\frac{50}{DB}\\\\DB = 50\sqrt{3}..(1)

similarly in triangle ABD

\tan 60^\circ = \frac{x}{DB}\\\\\sqrt{3}=\frac{x}{DB}\\\\x = \sqrt{3}DB\\\\x=\sqrt{3}\times 50\times \sqrt{3}\\\\x = 50\times 3\\\\x= 150 m

hence , the height of the tower is 150 m
