so angle of elevation at a point b meters from foot of tower will be (90°- theta)

given that two angles are complementary.

tan(theta)=h/a

h=a tan( theta )

tan (90- theta ) =h/b

cot( theta )=h/b

1/tan ( theta )=h/b

tan (theta)=b/h

.........equation 2

substitute tan ( theta ) in equation 1

h= a×b/h

h^2=ab

h =  \sqrt{ab}
