well the answer is still not found for this one!
we may relate this with the english language!...
as 'incident' means that occurring at any instant
and as the light ray is caught by the mirror at any instant and at any part/point of the mirror ( or the shiny surface ... whatever you call it)
observer might had named it as incident ray
by the way
this is never asked in physics all you need to do for this is to practice neumericals and ray diagrams
...
