Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

Two angles are adjacent and form a 120. The larger is 20 less than three times the smaller.

angle: x

angle: 3x-20

-----

Equation:

x + 3x-20 = 120

---

4x = 140

x = 35 degrees

---

3x-20 = 105-20 = 85 degrees

Given:

The angles are adjacent to each other forming angles of 120 degrees.

The larger is 20 degrees less than three times the similar.

To Find:

What angle is it?

Solution:

The two angles are adjacent and form a 120°. The larger is 20° less than three times the smaller.

Let the angle e x.

Let the other angle be 3x - 20 ..(i)

It will form an equation,

x + 3x - 20 = 120

Now, we will solve the equation,

x + 3x will become 4x

⇒ 4x - 20 = 120

Then we add 20 to 120 as we move,

⇒ 4x = 120 + 20

⇒ 4x = 140

To find the value of x we divide 140 by 4

⇒ x = 140/4

x = 35°

Now we substitute the value of in (i)

⇒ 3x - 20

⇒ 3(35) - 20

⇒  105 - 20

⇒ 85°

Therefore, the angle which is 20 degrees less than the three times the smaller is 85°.
