Given:

The angles are (x-40), (x-20) and x.

To Find:

Angles of the triangle.

Solution:

∵(x-40), (x-20) and x are the angles of the triangle.

∴By angle sum theorem,

(x-40)+(x-20)+x= 180

   x-40+x-20+x=180

              3x-60=180

                    3x=180+60

                    3x=240

                      x=\frac{240}{3}

                      x=80

Now,

∵x=80

The angles are 80-40= 80-40

                                   = 40°

                          x-20 = 80-20

                                   = 60°

                                x = 80°

∴40°, 60°, 80° are the angles.
