assume that in year 2003 population of town is A

A × 3% = 7851

A ×3÷100 = 7852

A = 7852×100÷3

A=261733

so population of town in 2003 is 261733

sajjad125: the answer should be 261700
akilfog: you are right in the above questions = 7851×100÷3. = 261700
