The annual salaries of a congressman and a senator total $288,900. If the senator makes $41,300 more than the congressman, how do you find each of their salaries?

Let's suppose the salary of congressman to be 'x' and of senator to be 'y'.

Then x+y=288900

And x+41300 = y

So, x + x + 41300 = 288900

2x= 247600

x= 123800

and y= 165100.
