Answer:

3

Step-by-step explanation:

as the prime numbers between 30 are

2 ,3 ,5 ,7 ,11 ,13 ,17 ,19 ,23 and 29

such pair like x<y and x+y=30

are ( 7, 23 ). (11 ,19 ) (13 ,17 )

Answer- The above question is from the chapter 'Real Numbers'.

Concept used: Prime Numbers are those numbers which have 2 factors i.e. number itself and 1.

Given question: If x, y ( x < y) are primes satisfying x + y = 30, then the number of such pairs (x, y) is ____ .

Solution: (We will solve the question by hit and trial method.)

Prime numbers less than 30:-

2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23 and 29.

By using hit and trial method,

7 + 23 = 30

where x = 7; y = 23

13 + 17 = 30

where x = 13; y = 17

11 + 19 = 30

where x = 11; y = 19

⇒  There will no other pairs.

∴ If x, y ( x < y) are primes satisfying x + y = 30, then the number of such pairs (x, y) is 3.
