The rotation of Earth is its movement upon its own imaginary axis. The earth is considered to be rotating from west to east.

This is the reason why, upon seeing from within a planet that is already moving, the laws of inertia come to play and the celestial bodies seem to be moving from east to west.

The apparent movement of the sun from east to west is a result of the same.

The apparent movement of sun from east to west is because of the law of inertia that come into play when humans see the sky and feel that all celestial bodies are moving from 'east to west'.

EXPLANATION:

The earth rotates on its 'imaginary axis' from west to east. When people see the celestial bodies movement from within the planet earth, they appear to be moving from east to west.

The rotation of the earth is the cause of the 'apparent motion' of the sun from east to west though the sun is stationary and does not move.
