GivEn:

  • The approximate time t(in second) that it takes an object to fall d meters is given bye the formula t = \frac{ \sqrt{d} }{4}
  • From top of a building, a coin is dropped and it takes 8 second to hit ground.

To finD:

  • How tall the building is ?

Solution:-

Here, given equation is :

  • \large{\tt{\green{t \: =\: \frac{ \sqrt{d} }{4}}}}

Where,

  • t = 8 second ••••••••(given)
  • d = x meter ••••••••( suppose)

Put given values in given formula:-

\large{\sf{t~=~\frac{\sqrt{d}}{4}}}

\large{\sf{8~=~\frac{\sqrt{x}}{4}}}

\large{\sf{\sqrt{x}~=~ 8×4}}

\large{\sf{\sqrt{x}~=~ 32}}

\large{\sf{x~=~ \sqrt{32}}}

\large{\boxed{\bf{x ~=~ 5.657}}}

Therefore,

The building is 5.657m tall.
