The area of a plot is 6000 square metres. Its length to breadth is 12 : 5 . Find the length Of its diagonal.

Given : area of the plot = 6000sq.ms

Ratio of the dimensions =12:5


We are to find out the length of the diagonal.


Proof : let the length be 12x and 5x.

As the plot is in rectangle shape,

12x X 5x= 6000sq.m

60x=6000sq.m

x= 6000/60=100


Thus, 12x=12X100=1200m

5x=5X100=500m


After joining the diagonal, we got a right angle triangle.


So, diagonal sq. =12xsq.X 5xsq.

diagonal sq.= 144 X 25

diagonal sq. =3600

diagonal. =60m


Thus, the length of the diagonal is 60m.
