the area of a quadrilateral is 342 sq,m .the perpendiculars from two vertices to the diagonal are 12 m and 12m .what is the length of this diagonal

Solution :

Let d is the diagonal and h1, h2 are

perpendiculars from two vertices

of the diagonal.

h1 = 12 m , h2 = 12 m,

d = ?

Area of the Quadrilateral = 342 m²

=> [(h1+h2)d]/2 = 342

=> ( 12 + 12 )d = 684

=> 24d = 684

=> d = 684/24

=> d = 57/2

=> d = 28.5 m
