area of rectangle =area of square
l×b = side × side
144m× b= 84m×84m
b=7056m^2/144m
b=49m

Given :

The area of a rectangle 144 m long is the same as that of a square having a side 84 m long

To Find :

Width

Solution:

Length of rectangle = 144 m

Let the breadth of rectangle be x

Area of rectangle =Length \times Breadth = 144x

Side of square = 84 m

Area of square = Side^2 = 84^2 =7056 m^2

We are given that The area of a rectangle 144 m long is the same as that of a square having a side 84 m long

So, 144x=7056

x=\frac{7056}{144}

x=49

Hence The width of rectangle is 49
