Answer:

Length of the rectangle is 12.25cm

Explanation:

Given that, Area of a rectangle is 12.25cm² greater than area of a square of side 7cm.

We know,

Area of a square = (side)²

= (7)²

= 49cm²

And also, area of the rectangle

= length × breadth

Where, the breadth is 5cm (given)

So, the area is

= length × 5

According to the question,

⇒ l × 5 = 49 + 12.25

⇒ 5l = 61.25

⇒ l = 61.25/5

⇒ l = 12.25

Hence, the length of the rectangle is 12.25cm

Quick check :-

We have length = 12.25cm and breadth = 5cm.

Area of the rectangle = 12.25 × 5 = 61.25cm²

And the area of the square is 49cm²

It's given that, area of rectangle is 12.25 more than the area of square.

So,their difference of the area must be 12.25cm²

= 61.25 - 49

= 12.25cm²

Hence, our answer is correct
