Explanation:

Width=x

Length=x+3

Area=x(x+3)=54

x^2+3x-54=0

x^2+9x-6x-54=0

x(x+9)-6(x+9)=0

(x+9)(x-6)=0

So x=6,-9

As lenth can't be a negative value so,

x=6 is taken

WIDTH=6 m AND LENTH=9m

Answer:

let the breadth be y

length = y + 3

area = lxb

y(y + 3) = 54

y + 3 = 54/y

y = 54/y - 3

y = 54 - 3y /y

y2 = 54 - 3y
