Answer:

Given area = 60 sq inch

Let the breadth be x inches.

Then its length will be x + 7 inches.

Area of rectangle = 60

l × b = 60

(x + 7)\:  \times  \: x = 60 \\  \\  {x }^{2}  + 7x = 60 \\  \\  {x}^{2}  + 7x - 60 = 0 \\  \\  {x}^{2}  + 12x - 5x - 60 = 0 \\  \\ x(x + 12) - 5 \: (x + 12) = 0 \\  \\ (x + 12) \: (x - 5) = 0 \\  \\ x =  - 12 \:  \: or \:  \: x = 5

But sides of rectangle cannot be negative. Therefore x = 5.

So,

Breadth = x = 5 inches

Length = x + 7

= 5 + 7

= 12 inches.

Hope it helps.
