Given :-

Area of the square = Area of the rectangle

Length of the rectangle = 80 cm

Breadth of the rectangle = 20 cm

To Find :-

The side of the square.

Solution :-

We know that,

  • l = Length
  • b = Breadth
  • a = Area

By the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Area \ of \ the \ rectangle=Length \times Breadth}}

Given that,

Length (l) = 80 cm

Breadth (b) = 20 cm

Substituting their values,

a = 80 × 20

a = 1600 cm²

Area of the square = Area of the rectangle

By the formula,

\underline{\boxed{\sf Area \ of \ a \ square=Side \times Side}}

Given that,

Area (a) = 1600 cm²

Substituting their values,

160 = s²

s = √1600

s = 40 cm

Therefore, the side of the square is 40 cm.

Answer:

Given :

  • The area of a rectangle is same as area of a square.

  • The length of rectangle = 80 cm.

  • The breadth of rectangle = 20 cm.

To Find :

  • The side of square.

Solution :

According to the Question -

Area of rectangle = Area of square

Length × Breadth = (Side)²

Substitute all values :

80 × 20 = (side)²

1600 = (side)²

√(1600) = Side

Side = √(40 × 40)

Side = 40

Hence, the side of the square = 40 cm.

Verification :

Area of rectangle = Area of square

Length × Breadth = (Side)²

Substitute all values :

80 cm × 20 cm = (40 cm)²

1600 cm² = 1600 cm²
