L = ( x+5 )

Area of rectangle = L × B

( x² - 3x - 40 ) = ( x+5 ) × B

( x² + 5x - 8x - 40 ) = ( x+5 ) × B

x( x+5 ) - 8( x+5 ) = ( x+5 ) × B

( x+5 )×( x-8 ) = ( x+5 ) × B

( x-8 ) = B

B = ( x-8)

Therefore breadth (B) = (x-8) unit
