A=l×b

Let the length of the rectangular plot be x meter.

Given:-

Area of rectangular plot =340m

Breadth of rectangular plot =17m

∴x×17=340

⇒x=

Hence the lenth of rectangular plot is 20m.

As the perimeter of the rectangle is given as-

p=2(l+b)

∴p=2(17+20)

⇒p=2×37=74m

Cost of fencing given =Rs.5.70 per metre

Therefore,

Cost of fencing for 74m=5.7×74=Rs.421.8

Hence the cost of surrounding the plot with a fence is Rs.421.8.
