As we know that area of rectangle (A) is given as-

A=l×b

Let the length of the rectangular plot be x meter.

Given:-

Area of rectangular plot =340m²

Breadth of rectangular plot =17m

∴x×17=340

⇒x= 340/17

=20m

Hence the lenth of rectangular plot is 20m.

As the perimeter of the rectangle is given as-

p=2(l+b)

∴p=2(17+20)

⇒p=2×37=74m

Cost of fencing given =Rs.5.70 per metre

Therefore,

Cost of fencing for 74m=6×74=Rs 444

Hence the cost of surrounding the plot with a fence is Rs.444
