Answer:-

(i) Let us consider:-

The breadth of the rectangular plot is x m

Thus, the length of the plot = (2x + 1) m.

As we know:-

Area of rectangle = length × breadth = 528 m²

Now, we get:-

→ (2x + 1) × x = 528

→ 2x² + x = 528

→ 2x² + x – 528 = 0

Hence, 2x² + x – 528 = 0, is the required equation.

GIVEN:

Area of a rectangular plot = 528m²

Length of the plot is one metre more than twice its breadth.

TO FIND:

Length and breadth of the plot.

SOLUTION:

Let the breadth of the rectangular plot = x

Length of the rectangular plot = 2x + 1

We know that,

Area of rectangular plot = l × b

Where, l = length and b = breadth

==> x(2x + 1) = 528

==> 2x² + x - 528 = 0

Split the middle term

==> 2x² + 33x - 32x - 528 = 0

==> x(2x + 33) - 16(2x + 33) = 0

==> 2x + 33 = 0 ; x - 16 = 0

==> x = -33/2 ; x = 16

Breadth of rectangular plot = 16cm

Length of rectangular plot = 2(16) + 1 = 33

Therefore, length and breadth are 33cm and 16cm.
