1) The given statement in the question is wrong.

The area of a regular hexagon of side a is the not sum of the areas of the five equilateral triangle with side a.

2) Hexagon is the figure which has 6 identical sides and if join all the vertexes at the center then we will get the 6 identical triangles. Then the area of the hexagon will be the sum of the 6 equilateral triangles.
