Perimeter = 12 cm

Given:

Right Angled triangle meaning one angle is 90°.

Base measure of the triangle = 4 cm

Hypotenuse measure of the triangle = 5 cm

To Find:

Perimeter of the triangle

Calculating:

The formula used to find the unknown side of the triangle. We use the Pythagoras theorem:

a^2 + b^2 = c^2

Substituting all the values known to us in this formula we get:

(4)^2 + b^2 = (5)^2

16 + b^2 = 25

b^2 = 25 - 16

b^2 = 9

b = √9

b = 3 cm

Therefore, the value we obtained for side 'b' is 3 cm.

The formula we use to find the perimeter of any triangle:

= a + b + c

We add all the sides together

Substituting all the values we know to us in this formula we get:

= 5 + 4 + 3

= 9 + 3

= 12 cm

Therefore, the perimeter of the right angled triangle is 12 cm.
