Given :

  • Area of square and rectangle is equal.
  • Length of the rectangle = 20 cm
  • Breadth of the rectangle = 5 cm

To Find :

  • Perimeter of the square.

Solution :

Firstly let's calculate the area of rectangle.

Formula used :

  • Area of rectangle = l (length) × b (breadth)

Putting the values,

→ Area of rectangle = l × b

→ Area of rectangle = 20 × 5 cm

Area of rectangle = 100 cm².

_______________

So, as per the question, it's mentioned that :-

  • Area of square = Area of rectangle

So,

• Area of square and rectangle is 100 cm².

Now, let's calculate the side of the square;

  • √100 cm² = side²

→ Side of square = √100

Side of square = 10 cm

______________

According to the Question,

Now, let's calculate the perimeter of square.

As we know that,

  • Perimeter of square = 4 × side

Here,

  • Side of square = 10 cm

Putting the values,

→ Perimeter of square = 4 × side

→ Perimeter of square = 4 × 10 cm

→ Perimeter of square = 40 cm

_____________

∴ Hence, perimeter of square is 40 cm.

let the breadth of rectangle be x.

area of square = area of rectangle

18×18=x×36

x=9

perimeter=2(l+b)

=2(9+36)

=90 cm
