SOLUTION

Let ‘a’ meters be the length of a side of the square field.

Area = square meters. --- (1)

Diagonal ‘d’ of a square with ‘a’ meters = 2 a –-- (2)

From (1) and (2), we can say that the square of the diagonal

  • d² = 2a²
  • d = (2 × area)
  • d = (2 × 24200)
  • d = (48400)
  • d = 220 meters

Time taken = Distance / Speed

= 220 meters / 6.6 kmph

  • converting 1 km = 1000 m
  • 1 hour = 60 minutes

= 220 × 60 / 6.6 × 1000

= 22 × 6 / 66

= 22 / 11

= 2 minutes

Hence, lady will take 2 minutes to cross the field diagonally at the rate of 6.6 km/hr.
