Answer:

  1. 24 metres.
  2. 96metres.
  3. ₹307

Explanation :

Area of the field is 576m²

Solving (i) :

The field is square shaped.

We know that,

Area of a square is : (each side)²

Or,

→ 576 = (each side)²

→ √576 = each side

→ 24 = each side

Hence, each side of the field is 24m.

Solving (ii) :

Perimeter of a square is : 4 × each side

→ 4 × 24

→ 96m.

Hence, the perimeter of the field is 96metres.

Solving (iii) :

Cost of fencing is :

→ perimeter of the field × rate of fencing

Where,

rate is ₹3.20 per metre.

So,

→ 96 × 3.20

→ 307.2

→ ₹307 ( approx. )

Cost of fencing is 307 (approx.)

Question -

  • The area of a square field is 576 sq. m. Find (i) the length of its sides. (ii) its Perimeter. (iii) Cost of fixing a fence along the boundary of the field at the rate of Rs.3.20 per meter.

Answer

Given -

  • The area of a square field is 576 sq. m.

To Find

  • (i) The length of its sides.

  • (ii) Its Perimeter.

  • (iii) Cost of fixing a fence along the boundary of the field at the rate of Rs.3.20 per meter.

Formula Used -

\begin{gathered}(1)\:{\underline{\boxed{\bf{\blue{{\tt \: Area_{(square)} =  {(side)}^{2}  }}}}}} \\ \end{gathered}

\begin{gathered}(2)\:{\underline{\boxed{\bf{\blue{{\tt \: Perimeter_{(square)} = 4 \times side }}}}}} \\ \end{gathered}

Solution -

  • According to statement,

\rm :\implies\:Area_{(square)} \:  = 576

\rm :\implies\: {(side)}^{2}  =  {24}^{2}

\rm :\implies\:\begin{gathered}\:{\underline{\boxed{\bf{\blue{{\bf \: side \:  = 24 \: m}}}}}} \\ \end{gathered}

Now,

  • Perimeter of square is given by

\rm :\implies\:Perimeter_{(square)} = 4 \times side

\rm :\implies\:Perimeter_{(square)} = 4  \times 24

\begin{gathered}\:{\underline{\boxed{\bf{\blue{{\bf \: Perimeter_{(square)} \:  =  \: 96 \: m }}}}}} \\ \end{gathered}

Now,

\rm :\implies\:Cost \: of \: fencing \: 1 \: m = ₹ \: 3.20

So,

\rm :\implies\:Cost \: of \: fencing \: of \: 96 \: m = 3.2 \times 96 = ₹ \: 307.20
