The area of a square is 40 in2. If the length of each side of the square is 2x in, what is the value of x?

area of square = 40in^2

since all sides of a square are equal

all sides are 2x

Using the given data------

40 = (2x)^2

40 = 4x^2

Dividing both sides by 4

x^2 = 40/4

x^2 = 10

x = √10
