Hi ,

Let the side of a square = a m

area of the square = 400 m² ( given )

a² = ( 20 m )²

a = 20 m

perimeter of the square = 4a

= 4 × 20m

= 80m

Now ,

dimensions of the rectangle ,

length = l = 20m

width = b m

perimeter of the rectangle = permeter of the

square

2( l + b ) = 80 m

l + b = 40

20 + b = 40

b = 40 - 20

b = 20 m

Therefore ,

width = b = 20m
