The area of a square is 42.25 2
. Find the side of the square. If the tiles measuring 13 cm
13 cm are paved on the square area, find how many tiles are required for paving it?

The area of a square is L x W but since the square has equal sides it is just S2 or side2.

 

So the side is the square root of 42.25m2 which is 6.5m.

 

The second part of the questions once us to find how many tiles fits in area. 

 

I recommend converting cm to m by dividing 100.

 

So each tile is .13m x .13m. That means the area of 1 tile is .0169m2. So if we have 42.25m2, all we do is divide.

42.25/.0169 is 2500, so I think there will be 2500 tiles
