Step 1 of 2 :

Calculate the length of one side of the square

Let length of one side of the square = a metre

∴ The area of the square = a² m²

By the given condition

a² = 1764

⇒ a² = 42²

⇒ a = 42

∴ The length of one side of the square = 42 m

Step 2 of 2 :

Calculate the length of the one diagonal

We know that for a square of side a unit the length of diagonal of the square = a√2 unit

The length of one side of the square = 42 m

∴ The length of the one diagonal

= 42 × √2 m

= 42√2 m
