QUESTION➡

The area of a trapezium is 105cm. If one of the parallel sides is 28cm and the distance between the parallel sides is 5cm, find the length of the other parallel sides ?

SOLUTION➡

Let the length of the other parallel side be x

Area= 105 cm^ 2 (given)

Parallel side = 28 cm (given)

Height = 5 cm (given)

Area  \: of \:  trapezium = \frac{1}{2} \times (sum \: of \:  parallel \: sides) \times h

 =  > 105 =  \frac{1}{2}  \times (28 + x) \times 5

 =  > 21 =  \frac{1}{2}  \times (28 + x)

 =  > 21 \times 2 = 28 + x

 =  > 42 - 28 = x

 =  > x = 14 \:  \: cm

Therefore,

The length of other parallel side is 14 cm
