Question 1: The shape of the top surface of a table is a trapezium. Find its area if its parallel sides are 1 m and 1.2 m and perpendicular distance between them is 0.8 m.

Answer: Area of Trapezium

=12×

sum of parallel sides ×

perpendicular distance

Parallel sides = 1 and 1.2 m

And perpendicular distance = 0.8 m

So, Area =12×(1+1.2)×0.8

=1.1×0.8=0.88

sq m
